Hey hotroddaddy, did you see the pictures of the Thing I posted for you? If not, here is a little encouragement for you to get yours fixed up.

Yep bob, i think they were there:eek: ,but its hard to tell, they all looked like that:LOL:  Ill see if i can get some pics!
That`s sure is a pretty (thing) there don, hopefully ill get mine looking like that someday. Im kinda excited about getting it cleaned up and started, it seems like its gonna be fun.
Just for fun, here's a couple of panel truck pics to keep you going. There's a couple chopped and even one with a mural. I think the first two pics are the same truck though.

Thanks for the inspiration, that is a serious chop! Nice work in the second pic, real clean cuts.
Well i finally got back to work on the truck the other night. Loaded up on needed supplies, so now i can get some more work done.
I took your advice and decided to add some more support to the c-notch area. I took a few shortcuts here, by using scraps i have laying around, but i figure by the time i weld it all up, it should be stout enough. I started by using the frame peice i cut out. i turned it upsidedown and welded it to the top of the frame, to act as a bridge. i reshaped it a little first to allow for the top peice to sit on top. then i added a flat strap across the top, i will then fill in both sides ,making it one solid, boxed in support.
i forgot the pics.
Here`s another.
I set the frame outside for a few days while i was messing with the thing, now it`s rusty again. Looks like moe cleanup for me! but thats what happens when you set bare metal outside in fla!
Yeah, ours even rust INSIDE in Florida.:( Your bracing looks good John. That should add a lot of strength to that area. Glad to see you back on the job again.

Hey hotroddaddy. I like those old panel trucks. here's a thread on the one I did back in the 70's. 40 Chevy.

The first time I saw your gorilly' Denny I had to double check what forum I was on.
It weighed in at 3200 lbs. As aerodynamic as a brick. Not much of an issue on an 1/8 mile track though. :DQuote:
