That's sad; he was an interesting character.
I got to see him run once years ago at the Indiana State Fair tractor pull. All those multi-engined tractors would make a pull (most of them unsuccessfully), immediately kill the engines at the end of the run, and wait while their crew came out with a garden tractor to tow them back to the pits. When it was Art's turn, he calmly pulled the sled out the other end with the turbines screaming and pouring black smoke. When he stopped, the field crew unhooked the sled and he very smootly drove the Green Monster back to his pit with the turbines barely whistling.
I was impressed both by the appearance of the tractor (it was beautiful) and the smoothness with which it operated.
He was truly a mechanical genius. R.I.P. Art...Jim

i've enjoyed the years here . made a lot of friends. most who have left. i see no reason to continue with this so hope to see you somewhere else. i dont think this site will ever be back. it's lived...
