Om my 305 I bored it .060 over with the XE 262 cam with the dual plane intake and 600 cfm carb. Ran great and a little over 300 HP. Also ran a 3 deuce set up with 3 rochester carbs and that ran even better, but now am running 2 500 edelbrock carbs and have yet to test them. Probably toomuch carb but have to wait till spring to find out. I think the 305 is a great little engine and can be made to perform and keep up with your stock or slightly built 327 and some 350's. Course thats just my 2 cents.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

What cylinder heads are you running on your 305? And are they ported out ?

I have been running stock heads that I ported but I just put on a set of Sportsman ll which should increase my HP and torque by 40-50. Next is a gear chage to 3:55 and should be able to get into the low 13's with it.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I.M.O.,those heads are about 3 sizes to big for your 305.

Eric My engine was bored to 315(not much bigger than stock) but a friend of mine who rebuids engines gave me a set of world sportsman heads with 190cc intake runners and 72cc fast burn chambers. He said they should work with my engine. I hope the hell there not to big because I really don't feel like changing heads again in my cold garage.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I am not sure what heads you have.

I don't know of any cylinder head company that makes a head that has a port volume of 190cc's.
