I got a good day's work in yesterday. Getting the clutch linkage all cleaned up and the grease fittings and adjustments working. was a big step. If you ever take this stuff apart on one of these old Mopars, take a picture before you do. Getting it back together right from memory is a chore. I also made new kick panels and started sanding on the cowl. I decided I have to at least do some basic bodywork and put it in primer. I was going to leave it as is but I just cant leave it like that. I've got enough black sealer/primer to cover the whole thing so I pulled out the DA and started on it. I think we're going with a red interior, too. I cant stand to leave the inside looking crappy, either.

You guys are right, the more I looked at some of these for ideas I just couldn't help but think, "You put all this work into fabrication, at least sand it and put some primer on it." Budget building I can do; willful neglect I can't. My dad's ghost would haunt me.

Nothing worthy of taking pictures this week, but I did get about 5 hours of patching and bodywork in over the last few days. I also bought a pair of cab corners; they were looking pretty rough. Oh yeah, plus the guy I bought the cab from found the title. He thought it was lost but found it Friday night. Issued in 1971, taxes on the title are listed as $1.50. Anybody wish those days were back? Anyhow, I'm shooting to get the firewall primered next weekend so I can mount the cab. Peace, Ya'll!

We'll you had a better weekend then me!!! Hate to even admit it in this crowd, but I spent Saturday and Sunday patching and blocking the sheet metal for a John Deere 4020 tractor! It belongs to a Hot Rod customer of mine, made him promise me some good work if I did the sheetmeta work and paint for him!!!! Maybe I should have posted this in Uncle Bob's economics thread!!!! Ya know times are tough when ya gotta work on a John Deere!!!!!

Nothing wrong with a Deere, Dave. I have an old Deere 212 lawn tractor that refuses to break. I had about 1/2 gallon of Daytona Blue Mettalic left over from my son's truck I wanted to use on it but never got around to it. Maybe someday; it'll probably be around longer than me.

Yeah, I know. I'll have them all primed, painted and gone this week so I guess once I get the check in the bank it won't seem like too bad of work!!!!

I have got to come over & look at this "THING" in the near future.
Will give u a hint on how to lowwer the front(if u want too) either cut a coil out of the front springs &/or lowwer the spring pocket on the lowwer control arm. You should be able to get at least 2-4 inch drop out of it, I do believe someone make dropped spindles too.
For the rear you could move the spring to the inside of the frame & use blocks or get a lowwer arched spring, S10/Astro rear springs may work or even the composite springs off of a Dodge mini van may work...joe

You must be reading my mind, Joe. I 'm going to cut the front springs and block the rear ones to try and get at least a 2" drop all the way around. I bought a set of drop spindles for my 47 Plymouth from Fatmans but they were not cheap and required a disc brake conversion. I'm trying to keep the costs down on this so hopefully cutting a coil or so out will get me where I want. I'll start on the front suspension as soon as I get the cab finished and mounted. Thanks for the interest, feel free to drop by anytime!

Do you have a picture of how to do that? I've never tried lowering spring pockets B4. Sounds like a cool idea..

Hey, now I get it. I think that may just work. Thanks for the good ideas, that air cleaner trick is pretty slick.
