    Question disc brakes

I was thinking about adding a disc brake setup to my 1956 pontiac. i seen theres many kits out there..'the 2 most common I've seen 2 types. the one type where you repalce spindels and get all the hardware.the other you can use the standard spindels and get the hardware.... I also been told you can use a spindel off an older chevy fullsize van and you can use all the components i dont know if this is true or not and what year???

found this on another site, IF your spindles are the same as 55 chevy's this should work

    Rotors and Bearings

68 – 72 Chevelle, LeMans, Olds 442, Skylark or GTO
    70 – 72 Monte Carlo
    Bearings- NAPA # 46409

    Front Calipers and Pads

79 – 86 Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, El Camino, Cutlass, Malibu, Regal, Seville
    Brake Hoses- NAPA 36845
    Brake Hoses- NAPA # 36845

bought at Autozone in March 2001:

    Rotors 5514 502 $59.99ea.
    Calipers 208785 C161 $ 9.99ea. ($10.00 core charge)
    Bearings (Set- 2) 693028 $ 5.99/set (2 sets required)
    Bearings (Set- 6) 693101 $ 6.29/set (2 sets required)
and you'll either have to buy the caliper bracket or make it. <~~~~~~~~ make note of this
