How about some wheel and tire ideas?

OK guys, let me pick your brains and photoshop skils. I love my chrome smoothies and wide whites, gives my car a very traditional look. I also realize could totally change the personality of my car with a change in the wheel/tire combo. Some basics likes and dislikes, I don't care for real big wheels and rubber band tires, nothing bigger than 17 or 18. I have even thought about expanding the custom look with some caps and spinners. I am not all that into billet wheels either, especially for what they cost. No Torque Thrusts, just too popular.

So throw some ideas out there guys and gals! Thanks!

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Keep the wide whites and mount them on red wheels with baby moons and trim rings!!!!!! The car is gorgeous, Pat!!! On a car like this IMO less is more.....

That was my thought, or red wheels with full hubcaps, like Lancers or Fiestas.

IMHO red wheels would be too much red............tough to say for a redoholic.

Now, caps would be good, and these are made for your car; http://www.mooneyesusa.com/catalog/p...e147cbb9f6e047

Add a vinyl or hand painted Studebaker style S to the center and you're there. If you wanted to '60's custom the look a little more, do skinnie whites instead of the wides, maybe even Vogue tyres. It's time to move on from the '50's look that's gotten too common.

Too much red would be like too much horsepower!!!!!!! Can't imagine either ever happening to me!!!!!

Wow, this one really looks pretty clean. There are also some chrome versions of these out there. I normally don't care for moon caps too much, but on this photoshop it does look good.

Hi Pat, ever thought about wire wheels with narrow whitewalls? For contrast on my 63 Fairlane,I painted the wheels medium blue metallic with baby moons.Hank

I am currently running AR wires and they are getting kind of old. They look classy, but I think painted wheels with trim rings and baby moons would look equally as good. Yours would do well with the same set up or with Fiesta or flipper caps. But, it also looks terrific just as it is now.

To me. the red color you chose says "performance". Too bright for a custom look, like the Lancer hubcaps. Rather than more red, I would stick with the contrast you have, which looks good.

If you need a change, I would go for some slotted wheels, like a Halibrand style, or spoked wheels, like Fentons, M/T Radars, or whatever swap meet specials you might find.

BTW, That is a great looking car! When Raymond Lowey designed it, it was so far ahead of it's time, that it still looks as sleek as any new car today....54 years later!!!

    53 Studebaker + Moon Disc = Salt Flats = Fast = WOW.

Sharp car. I agree always ahead of its time, and always makes a sharp hot rod.
