Sounds like a good project. I don't think you can go wrong with the 27.
If I was starting over on mine, I would get the 27 just for the extra room.

Welcome to CHR, AK. The 27 looks like a great project and a sweet ride when completed. The pinto drive train should be more than enough power for the car plus a real gas miser to boot. Looks like fun to me, especially in warm clime.
