    Headlight mods....

    Hey fellas,
I did a small little project on mine today. I purchased a halogen headlight conversion kit from Bob Drake several months. Since I had a little time to kill today, here's a few pics of what I did....

Now I just need to clean up the buckets and paint them.

Lookin' good, guys. I too have been a bit under the weather - cold then flu but now I think done till the next time.

That looks like quite a mod, Randy

I got the new 325# (effective rate (300)springs on the front end replacing the 160s (150 effective) as well as make up a front license bracket. I also did a 3rd tail light but need to take a couple of photos of that:

Nice springs, Dave! I see now why you chose that color for your car.....to match your license plate..... Looks great!

Yeah, on my headlights, the sealed beams behind the original glass lenses were never really very bright. Hopefully, the halogens behind the original lens will give me a brighter outlook on things. There is a big rubber grommet that fits into that big hole in the back of the bucket. It's supposed to allow you to change the bulb from the back when necessary.

I had a choice* when I did my registration - the older blue on white or the "coordinating" color. I do need to do the raised accent line ..........................

*(The county clerks DMV office still had some of the older versions for "friends" and we are friends, but I went with the new color)

Wow Dave! More shiny stuff in the front suspension! I guess you got the time to clean it tho'..

I thought the first pic wasn't your car as the color looked yellow! Just proves what lighting can do!

Been working in Buffalo, snows every other day Can't wait to go home this weekend, hope the airports stay open.

I needed springs, Speedway had AFCO's and they are either yellow or chrome Clean it? Once or twice a year maybe?

Under florescent lighting, it shows almost yellow, natural light it turns much more orange. The paint supplier said it probably is that wee bit of pearl in the mix. If someone says it's yellow, then I don't argue - it's close enough

Gotta love Buffalo ( I don't) but the folks are hardy there

I've got visions of you being "bored".. and laying on the creeper, under the front end, once or twice a year? I won't believe that!!!

    Close enough.. I agree..

Buffalo is okay. WAY to expensive for my tastes! Only time I saw the sun in the last week is when the plane rose above the clouds yesterday afternoon! Now I'm home and trying to catch up! Seems we had 8 inches of the white stuff here!

I saw those at the street rod nats last year Randy, think I`m going with the clear poly lenses though, they make a big differance at night, lot longer light beam on the road.

Yeah, I'll let you know how they work. I may end up getting the clear lenses too. Who knows? LOL

Hey, thanks, Bobby! I hope it works well. The bucket mods were really simple and a lot cheaper than buying their pre-fab buckets.

Glad to see you posting. It's been a while. Hope you're feeling better.

I purchased off ebay a sealed beam conversion kit from the early 40's but its still 6 volt . Never did check the bulb size maybe a modern one will fit ??

If it don't I do like this idea so much better .

Bobby - glad you surfaced through the snow and cold. Sounds like you are doing a little playing with your car. Me, between snowstorms, a little - that is when not swingin' a paint roller to my wife's "encouragement". March 15th used to be my normal first day out with which ever car, but doesn't look like it this year. April 15th in tune with the tax man???
