yes sir that helps. I am planning for a 17x8 wheel and I'd like to find a 255/60/17 tire for a little more sidewall and to make sure there is no space at all between the tire and fender. I think I'm all set on the back...just need to measure the front for the backspace and decide how wide to go. the narrower the better probably with my manual steering.'35 Ford coupe- LT1/T56, '32 Ford pickup, 70 GTO convertible, 06 GTO

255/60/17 should get you 29.04" diameter tire http://robrobinette.com/tire_diameter.htm
That should definitely fill the wheel well.
What kind of rims are you going to get? I doubt that I'll keep these Coddington Smoothies on my car. I got a deal on them when I first started the project but all 4 are 17x8 and that's just too wide for the front tires to clear. I think I have 215/45/17 on the front right now which is 24.6" diameter. They would probably clear fine with a 17x7 or maybe 17x6."It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G. Wells

Thanks for the info guys. Randy we are thinking about billet specialties vintec with spinner caps or maybe the legacy II. Something modern, but simple and a little old school...not like some of the billet wheels out there
. we are going to do 15's in front too.
