It's an ANTI-moan bracket. They say these brakes had a tendency to "moan" in reverse or at really low speeds. This bracket is suppose to give a little more support to the caliper and stop the moaning. I don't know why they didn't just design a stronger bracket for the caliper instead. Ford used these brackets on the Mustang GT's & Cobras from '95-04...
