I am channeling down a 33' Ford shell....well...what's left of it anyways. I am trying to get it in a customized "roadster" style body to fit on a 112 inch wheelbase frame. From there I will work with a friend of mine to use it as a buck to pop a fiberglass body.

I am at the point where I need to commit to the overall height of the body. I have been using some reference points from my Corvette up to this point...height at top of radiator, top of firewall etc... but I am not sure that that is a good comparison, although I will be putting in an SBC 350 probably with a TH350 transmission.

I am most interested in what the the height of the vehicle should be at two points in order to have enough room for the engine and transmission to fit and not require a hood scoop.

I would like to know if anyone has a customized 33-34 roadster and what the height of the hood is at the most forward edge when closed and what the height is at the top of the back edge of the firewall, inside the engine bay...where the rear of the hood closes down...right at the center of the vehicle?? I ran my measurements from the ground..simulating that the body was on a suspension...and I have 31 inches and 34 respectively. It is pretty close to my Vette's measurements and would seem to me that it would give just enough height for the engine.

However, does anyone have any actual measurements that work?? Thanks for the help!
