Project $ 3 K Is Underway

I'm on vacation in New Hampshire. Bought the car 3 or 4 weeks ago and parked it in the garage. took all the neighborhood kids for a ride first. Getting insurance was a pain since only a few companies do collector insurance. I finally got my insurance car on Thursday emailed late and had to work on Friday. didn't matter though because the tag office was closed and when I come back it will be closed too. :mad: I'm chomping at the bit to drive this car. It sits in the 3rd car garage which is where I was working on a 1975 Enduro I'm restore for a customer, so I had to look at it a lot. It pretty much looks the same. The guy I bought it from never drove it only about 500 miles. I have emailed Don and I think The guy he sold it to bought it to resale it and make some $$$, but I got it for the same price he paid for it 1.5 year later. I found the Bill of sale under the seat. I will attach some pics once I get home.

Welcome aboard speed, the old guy did a nice job and you should have a great time with the car.

When you get to picture posting, don't forget to post up pics of your cat(s) too.;)

I never got to ride in Don's (now your) roadster, but I saw it in person twice, once at the Turkey Run and once at the first Billetproof Florida. It's an absolutely beautiful little car.:cool: I have a picture on my other computer of that roadster with my Model-A and Bill Skirvin's Deuce...:3dSMILE:

First, welcome to CHR! Never saw Stacey's book before, but it appears to be a simple log book to keep track of details during a build? Not a bad idea if it covers the bases, and at $20 it's not outrageously priced. Still, you can do the same thing with an excel spreadsheet with some basic spreadsheet setup. You really ought to start a new thread for your questions so that they don't get overlooked. Upper left "Forums" tab, "New Thread" and go from there.

What're you building??

Especially since the seasoned hands here (you have no way to know this) know the originator of this thread has wandered off in a drool laced stupor never to return again.;)

You're likely to get more spirited discussion if approached as a topic of it's own.

I'm in the VERY preliminary stages of an 89 F-150 Regular Cab Short bed. 300 Inline 6, FI, 5 speed manual. $1000 for the truck, then $600 to lower it and then????

Thought about trying the Krylon Spray Can Challenge with it (painting it with their products out of spray cans) in either bright red or Red/White. Hoping to end up with a usable truck that's cool for $3k. That will probably be a challenge since the A/C currently doesn't work. However, on older vehicles with vents and cozy wings, I may not need A/C.

i am attempting same thing .. looks like same chassis too but i got a 26 steel body going to adapt to it ..

i am working my first rod - i can use all you help and watching you sure is a good thing ...

Welcome to CHR! Take a minute to look back at posts 3330 and 3331 above. You really, really need to start a new thread if you're looking to get timely responses to any questions. Besides, it's always better to start a new thread for a new subject so you can find it later, like if it's inactive for a few days and you need to do a "Find All Started Threads" search. We'll look forward to some pictures of your project!

I think we just hit the one year anniversary of Don posting to this site. Hope he & the family are OK - and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !

I don't post to this site much but I've read thru alot of this build thread - WOW, you guys really do put a lot of hours into these build projects. Helps me gain new perspective on my restoration projects - building stuff from scratch is MUCH more challenging.

Hey, it's good to hear from Brian Rupnow who was helpful to me in the early years of my build (2003-2012). I direct him to the thread on "Zips Riser" where I have a picture of my '29 roadster which was started about the same time as Brian's Canary but he rapidly got ahead of me. I am currently adding up a lot of receipts for the build and I can tell this thread that even doing a lot of the work yourself it is easy to go over $25K using a prefab 'glass body and rebuilt running gear (along with some first class stuff from Brookville). I did splurge on some fancy things like stainless top irons and stainless bumpers from Bratton's but then you need to consider that the chromed items that are only about 20% cheaper will flake if damaged so you get drawn into the quality of stainless parts from Brattons! It was interesting to me that the Bebops 'glass body dimensions are close enough to stock that much of the stuff I got from Brattons fit as good as if the body was metal!

Bebop's nice folks. I've replaced my running boards, and fender lowers in front, with their fiberglass panels. All seem very strong, well made!
