But, Jack, your car is a beauty - regardless of the fact that you had to totally redo everything on it. (Then there are Brookvilles...........

When I read that, it took me back about 30 years. But I remember it as
Illegitimi Non Carborundum. Doesn't really matter how it's written, the meaning is all the same.
Don't really here it much anymore, guess you got to be over 50 to understand it.

AH YES... I had heard about that. To bad but, I guess that can happen when you're handed an empire that you didn't have to work to build. Seems a majority of our youth are in the same pickle... but I digress... I will do a search for Gibbon, thanks for the tip!

Not to hijack the thread,
but mine's 2137, from Darlingon. There's a lot of Gibbon stuff out there somewhere. If someone asks me if mine's a "kit car", I say heck no. It was WAAAAY too much work.

My complete joy of the whole hobby is going down the road in my car after building it. Everytime I get in it, it becomes as fresh as if I was in the shop with it last night. It is totally relaxing and alot of fun regardless of what I am doing in the car. I am still in total awe just driving it when I know who did alot of the work!!"Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

most of the car shows in my area " except for the old well established ones " suffer from lack of participants and dry up after one or two events .. they all want to make a killing on entry fees and suffer poor participation .. i offered many times to bring my stuff and put in on the stage if i could do so without paying the entry fee and told them dont bother judging my junk ,, i just wanted to help field a good show " No No No they said they couldn`t make money if no one paid .. i said " you aint making none anyway cause nobody is here .. you got to have something to " show " in order to have a show ..iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Hoss doesn't it make you laugh! They need your cars to get people to come to make money but they charge you to be there! It's sort of the chicken and the egg argument!
Bob you always come up with great stuff. Non illegitimis carborundum i.e.... don't let the Bas...ds grind you down, Semper Fi!

I am sure I am not reading or understanding your point here. Is it you want to be in the car show that makes no money, but will enter if you do not have to pay? ...................... novel idea, just think how things would work if everybody did the same.

The board needle on the boring meter usually pegs out at the time all the egos get in gear and start going over their acceptance speeches. Snobs are snobs and they hang out with the snob friends, who cares when all is said and done. If someone likes what I have put together fine and thanks, I will happily give out any helpful information you might like to have. Someone mention a sarcastic remark from a car show observer on the size of a weld bead, I find that most that come off like that do not know what end of a screwdriver to hold. TV has these folks all thinking we build this stuff in a week or two, so what the heck can anybody expect from TV watchers ............I have two brains, one is lost and the other is out looking for it

Nah, I think all he was trying to say was he'd bring in a bunch of his cars to help make the show bigger/better. More cars at event to represent a bigger turnout, kinda help draw the crowd. He didn't want to pay and/ or have his cars judged. He just wanted to help the organizers. (that was my take on it!)

Not sure why they can't understand that we have other choices or definitions of cool and we're not screwing up the world! If he wants to build his car with an old Buick, GREAT! That's not what I want!

Hoss, you need to take a little trip up above the Mason Dixon line. We have two, once a month shows that have been going on for years. Each draws 600 to 800 vehicles, there is no registration fee, and is open to all years and types. No bitching about other peoples cars and very few A-holes. Got a DJ and plenty of good food (hosted by an established car club and an Amish market. Club makes it's money selling 50/50 tickets.most of the car shows in my area " except for the old well established ones " suffer from lack of participants and dry up after one or two eventsBob
