Question Lowering the rear of a 50?

I want to lower the rear of my 1950 Pontiac Chieftian 3 -4 in. How do I go about this. I know the best way is lowering blocks " I guess" but on my rear end it looks like leaf springs, but they seem to be incased in a metal sleave??
