Lowering the rear of a 50?
I want to lower the rear of my 1950 Pontiac Chieftian 3 -4 in. How do I go about this. I know the best way is lowering blocks " I guess" but on my rear end it looks like leaf springs, but they seem to be incased in a metal sleave?? http://www.geocities.com/chopped29modela/LanceCar.JPG

Not necessarily "the best", but satisfactory for a "quick & dirty". The lowering block goes between the spring and the spring mounting pad on the axle housing, so the matter of the springs having the "dust shields" is inconsequential. 4" is quite a bit for a block and much more prone to bottoming out, you might want to settle for 2 or 3 at most. If you buy a kit it should come with the longer U bolts necessary as well.
