Trying to figure out the disc brakes for my 64 . think I have it but not sure . Is their anyone out there that has a 77 elcamino or chevelle or proberly several other comparable models that you might be able to measure the distance on the spindle between the upper & lower ball joint.Also measure where the spindle is in relation to the lower ball joint.I went to two different wrecking yards .and walked through every G M model but they had crushed all the old stuff. If anyone has any knowledge on this I would appreciate you help. Thanks.P. S. It has to have the big rotors and calipers. I have new wildwood calipers to use.

77 Impala should work.........

Thanks Jim. 71 -76 Impala might also work but they have a 5 inch bolt pattern. If I can I want to stick with 4.75 inch bolt pattern although it doesn't make too much difference. I have 8 inch rally wheels but I intend to go to 17 or18 inch wheels . Its the money thing ,that might a will yet.

Push comes to shove, I bet early 5 3/4 rotors will bolt up to the 71-76 spindles. A lot of GM stuff interchanges. I once bolted 73 Buick wagon spindles and rotors into a 65 Chevy pickup. A little juggling with outer tie rod ends was all that was needed.

I would look for 69-70 Impalas etc. spindles and disk brakes. 100% bolt in. 4 3/4" also

Thanks Dingus, I'll look into that. I see You have a 60 Chevrolet. Do you have the original frame under it .I have concerns about the 58-64 frame . How much horse power can it stand? Do you or do you know anyone with a big motor in one? I know about all the original motors ,but I wonder how much motor the stock frame can handle? I am putting a 6 speed in my 64,so the tailshaft will be further back. I would love to think I might be able to use a 1 piece driveshaft but I have my doubts.Thanks!

STreets, The 64 came with as much as 425 hp 409 I have the frame already cleaned, treated for rust ,primed and painted.It was already in good shape before I started. Now that I am close to ready to go back together I am having some 2nd thoughts. I have 3 complete posi. units,373-411 and 456.Now I am seriously thinking of putting a 9 inch with disc brakes out of a Lincoln. This thing is going to snowball on me if I don't get a grip.
