    I've been following it for a few weeks now. He has created a slick controller to add / subtract air to optimize the fuel burn. It still runs strong too. And his best was like 41 mpg!

    This is the first I've seen it so you know better than I, but with headline "...if a tad underpowered" doesn't seem to support your " It still runs strong too...", plus them saying that he got it up to 80mph! A Maverick with a 5.0, fueled for performance would be a hard charger, depending on the gears. This is more of a Mobil Economy Run build, seems to me, trying to prove a point and doing it pretty well.
