Years ago I worked for a Chevy dealer's parts department and we used the bus company a lot for small town dealers needs.

Another option that many people don't consider is the local Fastenal Company. They do internal transfers store to store, and they'll quote for sending just about anything legal to the nearest store to your destination. A friend sent rear differential, just strapped to a pallet, cheap.
