Hope everyone is doing OK in the extreme weather
We are able to not leave the farm for a few months . Heat with wood and propane . Never lost power but had the generator ready .
Stay safe please. Hoping everyone comes out OK and safe.
It was an interesting week, don't want to do it again.
this happens about every 10 years . between earth wobble and solar shifts it lets the jet stream dive into texas . while this one went further south than usual it is not uncommon . in 84 we had solid snow/ice and 0 degrees . my shop froze up solid.
gotta be prepared for this stuff . we head into winter with full tank of propane , 2 cords of wood , plenty of food and generator ready to go .
hell we got enough tp to poop for 6 months :)
Yep, it used to be called "the weather" before Al Gore's "Global Warming" that told us we'd all be cooked by now became "Climate Change". The real scientists look at the data and show the cycles we've seen and know that no matter what name you put on it, it's still just "the weather" and mankind can't affect it.
Back up in the 40's for a few days now, I don't think it's the real "Spring" yet, but we'll sure take every day of this we can! We were fortunate, never lost power at all! Our little town has spent the last decade or so putting all the power underground, power outages are quite rare these days!
rub it in rub it in !! a song i think .. gunna hit almost 70 in north bama today .. will take a lap in the pinto later ..
70 degrees today with plenty of sun . our winter should be over now .
Well for the next week I’ll be recuperating from getting my new hip & enjoying night time temperatures of the mid 50’s to mid 60’s and daytime temperatures of low 80’s to low 90’s. Sure beats the melting mess from the 9” of snow back in the St. Louis area. But the mid 30’s at night an daytime temperatures of 55 to 60’s will feel like spring time to them.. joe
Fine weather with temperatures around 23C, that's about 77F. Beautiful days and warm nights.
Eating freshly picked runner beans with virtually every meal.
Bliss.
I don't envy you blokes one little bit.
We did however have a power outage.
Some clown managed to negotiate a corner just down the road from us gazetted at 35kph (around 20mph) then 200 yards down a straight road went through a 7 wire post and batten fence, chased a power pole around until he got it right between his headlights and brought it to heel.
Wires were ripped off three poles either side of the skittled one.
Dummass walked away.
And we were without power for quite some time.
No big deal. We've got gas cooking facilities in the bus.
We were below 0*F for several days, if not a week. We had 2 to 3 weeks where we didn't even see a high of above 7*. Plus it snowed quite a bit during that time. I had to laugh because when I was a kid you always heard it wouldn't snow when it was below 0* because the air was too dry. Well, someone forgot to tell mother nature that this year.
.
why in the hell our energy grid was being ran by a group of friggin yankees is beyond me. none of the morons lived here . heads need to roll over this crap.
