In the 80's when the big drought hit in Montana and Wyoming, we were hauling hay out west, some of the prices then were outrageous with big rounds and squares bringing crazy prices of $150.00 each and up! "Idiot cubes" (aka small square bales) of good alfalfa were even higher! I was still involved with farming then and remember some made more money off hay then they did corn and beans that were dirt cheap for a bunch of years there!
