Country Classic Cars in Staunton Illinois burnt down

Did any of you see this yet? What a total disaster! They are saying over 150 classic cars and trucks were destroyed. What a mess this is and will be. They say 5% of the vehicles were on consignment too.

Very sad for the owners and us that love the older vehicles. I wondered why there was no sprinkler system but if there was a lack of onsite water, then a sprinkler system would of been a waste of time. Hopefully the insurance will cover the lose adequately.

Makes a guy sick to the stomach to think of all those lost cars. They just keep getting more rare. I was wondering about the sprinkler system as well. It would be very expensive to install but if you add up 150 cars at a random number of 50k a piece, I think I would have done it. Hindsight's always 20/20.

We’ve visited the place a couple of times over the years, and although we’ve never bought anything have always made a point of pulling in for a look at what’s on offer.
I also log on to their website regularly just to check on what they’ve got for sale at the moment.
Our sympathy goes out to the Noels on their loss.

I'm sure there is plenty of tap water there. The biggest problem is that in most rural areas, there are no fire hydrants hooked to a water tower to refill fire trucks. Most fire stations, especially small rural ones, don't have a tanker to just haul water. That is the delay they were referring to in the video. The fire trucks would have to go refill with water at the next closest tower, or water hydrant.
