engaged for 6 of the 8 before we got married.. lots of reasons, her she was caring for her aging and ill parents, I was caring for my daughter and fighting over custody, blah blah blah.

at the end of the day all that matters is you ended up together and you are both happy.

This isn't a home improvement, but it is a garage improvement. I finally took the time to hang the cabinets we removed from the sun room in the garage. I am going to try to put all my spray can stuff in the LH one. I'm also going to try to get my paint supplies off the far right shelf unit and put them inside one of these cabinets. I also started hauling more of the wife's projects out of the garage and into the basement because the garage is just over ran. I'm tired of the clutter and I'm my biggest enemy. I don't need her help to make a huge mess. Haha

Well, we have a car show in Prairie City next Sunday. If you are near and want to see some oil burner junk, let me know. They usually have over 150 cars and trucks at the show so there will be a lot to see.

We'll be in Elkheart, it doesn't look like it's too far away, we'll see what happens, the timing of everything really isn't going to be up to us.

This weekend no more progress was made on the baby room or much else. My home town's town celebration was last week so Saturday we spent the day there. I took the boys in the parade with the 72 and let them throw candy to other kids. After that we took the Vette and the 72 to the car show. They had a pinewood derby race this year. I made the kids their own car and they got to race them. Of course I don't have any finished pics of them, but I'll grab some later. I built my youngest son's car first and his had no weight added to it. Yeah, he got short changed. Izzy and Clint's weighed 6.7oz ea and they both made it to 3rd place. Next year maybe I'll go ahead and polish the axles and wheels etc. This was a last minute deal and I was doing good to get 3 built in 5 days any way. Haha

Of course I forgot my phone at home so I didn't get any pics of anything. My mom sent me these pics of the kids getting ready for the catch a pig contest. Right when it was time to put them in the pen, my youngest son started freaking out. He wanted to go after his brother and sister. I tried telling him there is no after because they only do their age group one time. Then I figured out he thought they had to try to ride the pig for 5 seconds. I laughed and told him no, you need to tackle it and hang on. Then he was good. Haha They just had to hold the pig for 5 seconds. I don't have any pics of the kids getting the pig, but Izzy and Clint got it! They were pretty excited. They won $5ea! After that I took them down to the inflatable toys and that was short lived due to a nasty rain storm that came in.

All in all it was a great day. I even had my wife thinking about letting me get a different ride so we can all go to car shows in 1 vehicle together. That might have to wait though. I'm really going to do some brain storming and see if I can get a child carrier and 3 kiddos in the back of the 40. Anything is possible, right?

Knocking the dust off an old thread here! Yep, it's almost been a year and I still haven't finished the nursery. Well, the wife said she wants Ivvy in there before she is 1. 10-4 let's get it done.

I finished sanding the drywalll and had it smoooth and sweet. Then Allyson tells me she wants to do a pattern on the walls using drywall mud. So she started and got about 3 feet wide done on wall 1 and found that the motins with the round brush were killing her wrist. I got the job of finishing that particular job.

Once that was done, we painted the ceiling white. The 3rd coat finally looked good. Before it was just stained wood. Next we painted the walls. It isn't pink and I can't remember the name of it. I thought the walls were going to be more light green to match the crib, but I was wrong.

Next was the floor. Originally she had me sand the floor and we were just going to paint it and put a rug down. She picked up a lot of nice used laminate hard wood flooring that has been residing in my garage. I said hey dear, why don't we put that in Ivvy's room? She agreed and I put it in there. Several trips up and down the stairs later it was done. I don't know if I'd get used again. Every side has a joint so it all interlocks. Now I have lots of pieces missing interlocking sides. The recycling bin is going to be heavy for a while I believe.

Finally it is looking like a room! I have been working on making the window trim and trying to have it match the other windows in the house. I have all the base trim cut and fit, 1 window is trimmed, but I still have to cut and fit the crown molding. I just got a jig for that yesterday. Next we have to stain the trim and get it affixed. Then it will be to make something to go around the duct. Allyson wants a bird I think. After that I have to replace 1 outlet, put the covers on them and then maybe we can move her stuff in there!

Man it is amazing how long it can take to get some stuff done between the day to day life stuff. We painted the entry trim pieces and stained the floor trim and 1 window trim stuff I had done. I finally got them put up. Now to make the trim for the other window, attach the trim to the walls, and get the crown trim cut. I did buy a crown jig so that should help. We had to use 2 different colors of stain to get the trim to match the floor. Big fun there.

I'll have to take pics of the window trim at night. Allyson wood burned some bird houses and flowers in the 2 upright pieces. It looks really nice.

    Bathroom repairs finally done!

Man, what a long 5 or 6 weeks this has been. Between all the OT at work, harvest, leaves piling up everywhere, and the normal day to day stuff that comes up....... Yeah. It took longer than I wanted but the leaking toilet issue and it's mess is fixed. The washer and dryer project got completed too. Now just about 100 other things left to do.

Is that floor vent doubling as an emergency water drain?
    .
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

No it isn't. The only time any liquid has been there is when a dumb dog thinks the floor is a good place to pee.... Who's idea was the dog again?

Thanks. Neither. I'm onto getting the house/yard ready for winter. I have some window sills to paint, and I have to get Ivvy's room finished, I'd like to do some repair work on the foundation to keep water etc from getting in. So much stuff to do. Haha I've had bad thoughts of hauling the Camaro to my shop in Mitchellville where I plan to store it for the winter. But I still think I can get it running soon. It might be a pipe dream though......
