    lot of car stuff going on down here. only draw back is some are smack in the middle of summer. not good. but early spring and fall are a lot of fun. you can cruz year round .

    Another drawback is the distances between the events! When I was in uncle's canoe club down in Corpus my folks lived up in middle Missouri and 1/2 of my trip was getting out of Texas! Lots of wide open spaces in Texas, which is part of it's beauty.

    it's further from dallas to el paso than el paso to la . i dont mind the drive as long as i dont cross the state line .

    it's actually houston to el paso but you get the idea.

    Yep, it is definitely a long drive from one side of Texas to the other; in 1960, on the "Big Grey Dog" bus, the sun was setting when we crossed from New Mexico, and the sun was setting when we crossed into Arkansas next evening.

    i drive around 70 miles to see my banker. another 15 to my favorite bbq place. so it's close to 200 miles round trip.
