Have you tried to update your Nortons software recently? There was a bad patch that they came across recently (Nortons, not forum wise) which required a forced update to their software updates. I did mine this past Friday, required me to reboot my desktop, but not my laptop, so it may be update version specific.

What software are you running on your system?
What version of Nortons are you running?
What patch level are you running?

Site software appears to be error and virus free at the moment, several different levels of scans just performed, all clear on our end

I keep offering the solution to hackers, but my fix falls on deaf ears. If all the countries of the world would get together and agree to issue a single bullet to the head of any person found guilty of hacking a system, carried out within 24 hours, we would not have a hacking problem anywhere in the world any more. You keep letting them get away with a slap on the wrist, it will keep happening. If I could be King for about 6 weeks, I could fix a lot of the problems we have today.

I use eset nod 32 for years and have never had a problem

I got rid of Norton about 15 years ago and have run Kaspersky since, no problems.
