Barb, I still have wistful thoughts about my last Monte. I had a 1976 and a 1980. The 1980 was two-tone light and dark burgundy with all the creature comforts except horsepower. Nonetheless, I wish I had it back.
Good luck on your build, and keep us informed.
Looking forward to hearing progress reports again.
Mick
I have a question. I have completely taken down the interior except for the steering column and wiring. I pulled off the tar paper like substance and it all looks pretty good except for the front passenger floor board. I have a friend that is going to come by with a welder and teach me how to replace. that piece. My question is there was a tar like ridge that was on all the seals where the floor pan meets the body. I removed it all and sanded all the areas. What is the name of the tar like goo so that i can replace it. Thanks
Try this stuff Barb:

another question. I am pretty good at putting things back together if i took them apart. But most of the parts that came back are in boxes with no labels. I am putting my rear bumper back on. Got the top bolts back in but there is nothing for the bottom bolts to connect to. Is there an inner bumper or bracket I need to put on first for under the car to bolt too and if so what does it look like.
Barb, there are some brackets for the rear bumper. Here is an ad I found on ebay for some. Maybe you can look through your boxes and see if you have them.
