i am back again
been awhile since i have posted. I have had a couple of cars since the first monte but none of them sparked my interest. So i just fixed them and sold them. Went in for a tweeking of my anxiety disorder. doc said that i have ptsd and I needed to get back into cars as that is what made me happy and content. when my husband and sons heard that they got together and went and brought back my first monte. it is in rough shape. it is all there but I am back to square one. I know that any members here that lives on the east coast knows that we have been getting a lot of rain. The windows were left down. the exhaust was cut off and the dash gauges are all damaged. all the wiring has been pulled and the front clip has been removed. with all that said I could not be any happier. What the men in my life have done for me is amazing. so get ready boys and girls for a lot of questions. It feels great to be back.

Welcome back, Barb! It was good to see your name pop up in "Today's Posts".

good to hear from you .. good to hear from me .. HA !!!

I'm very pleased to see you posting again, Barb. What a pleasant surprise!!!!! Do you have any initial plans for the MC, or are you just going to go sit by it in a chair and dream? That's what I used to do. I'd put this idea and that idea through my head and see which one made me grin the widest. :3dSMILE:

You made my day by returning and your determination to MONTE!!!!!
If there is any particular engine/driveline stuff you need---last count, I had 47 engines here

Good to see you back, Barb. Now it's time to roll up your sleeves and get busy.

thanks guys. been busy all morning. starting at the rear and very slowly moving forward. trunk has some small pin holes and some rust so i am stopping all that then i am going to move to the rear suspension and then tear out all the interior, I am in heaven. still has the 472 in her and going to leave it that way for awhile.

Sounds like the car was well on its way to the scrapyard.
My Dodge (73 charger) was in the same condition when I saved it. Well, it was a roller, but about the only thing yours needs which mine didn't was maybe the wiring, and mine needed repair.
Good luck, may it bring you peace, and dirty fingernails.

welcome back Barb, glad to see you're still wrenching....
And it's on your first Monte too....joe

thank you all so much guys. feels great to be back.

Welcome back and that's awesome to hear they were able to get your old monte back! It's too bad it got trashed, but now you have a 2nd chance to do things different you didn't do the first time around!
-
that is exactly how i feel. taking my time and doing it right. it is in decent shape just in many, many pieces. :)
-
Barb, I still have wistful thoughts about my last Monte. I had a 1976 and a 1980. The 1980 was two-tone light and dark burgundy with all the creature comforts except horsepower. Nonetheless, I wish I had it back.
Good luck on your build, and keep us informed.

Looking forward to hearing progress reports again.

I have a question. I have completely taken down the interior except for the steering column and wiring. I pulled off the tar paper like substance and it all looks pretty good except for the front passenger floor board. I have a friend that is going to come by with a welder and teach me how to replace. that piece. My question is there was a tar like ridge that was on all the seals where the floor pan meets the body. I removed it all and sanded all the areas. What is the name of the tar like goo so that i can replace it. Thanks

Glenn beat me to it.. Yep seam sealer.. don't for get to apply to both sides of the seam when finishing.. (or removing!)

another question. I am pretty good at putting things back together if i took them apart. But most of the parts that came back are in boxes with no labels. I am putting my rear bumper back on. Got the top bolts back in but there is nothing for the bottom bolts to connect to. Is there an inner bumper or bracket I need to put on first for under the car to bolt too and if so what does it look like.
-
Barb, there are some brackets for the rear bumper. Here is an ad I found on ebay for some. Maybe you can look through your boxes and see if you have them.
