I rarely have something to share, but I came upon this (and I think the possibilities are limitless)-how about using these "Springs" on Car Doors? Or, self closing (and locking) Trunks? Whatever the case, this is pretty cool!

I wonder if you introduced an electrical field around the latching magnets could they be remote controlled? What do you think Roger?

I can see electric motors changing in oh so many ways!!!

You're over my head in the magnetic arena, but watching their video there is no magnetic action involved in changing from the repel to latched modes. It's a manual rotation. Seems to me that it would be pretty simple to use a normal remote, which engages a push-pull servo to accomplish the rotation, so making them remote controlled shouldn't be that difficult, seems to me....

I'am like roger I din't know a lot about magnets except all my old ones won't stick to our new s/s refrigerator so was just wondering if some smart guy will figure out how to arrange them in a motor and finally come up with perpetual motion

Ted, you can pop rivet a nice, clean cookie sheet to the door of your new SS fridge for those magnets to stick, but your wife may put knots on your head.

This is really cool! The really cool thing is now poly can be magnetized with this technology so to speak.
