Ah yes, "climate change"...................ever ask one of those mindless adherents "So......tell me.......when was it in our planets millions of years of existence that the ideal climate we should work for existed?" Perhaps the image of the robot when asked a complex question responded "Does not compute......does not compute" comes to mind. More likely you'll get some form of vitriol in return, similar to some of the campus images of earlier this week.

Sadly relying on facts to rebut the dubious claims has proven to be mostly a futile effort. A wholly corrupt political/media cabal has the more powerful megaphone. There's a reason propaganda has been used so often, it supports the notion that "a lie told often enough becomes the truth". Regardless of facts or outcomes they continue to spew the falsehood because it works for their benefit.........and they have a lot of effort invested. I know, eyes will roll about conspiracy talk, but it's not a conspiracy when it can be demonstrated true.......it then becomes, if I may properly use an abused phrase............an inconvenient truth (sorry, I couldn't resist).

In support I offer a few examples. Every election cycle, and often in between, we hear about "unequal pay". All sorts of fallacious figures are trotted out.........fallacious because if examined carefully they show why the old expression "liars figure, figures lie" became an old expression. Point out that it was a bit over 50 years ago that JFK signed the "Equal pay for equal work" act. Picture the robot again. Add to that that the first legislation our current President signed was the "Lily Ledbetter Equal Pay" act as a follow up. And there have been others in the intervening decades. But still the grievance is trotted out whenever it's needed as a political club.............and will be in the coming year.............a ton.

Racism? Equal rights amendment put into law just over 50 years ago. Yet, it's STILL not a "problem" solved, even though a LOOOONNNNGGGGGG parade of politicians repeats the mantra....."Vote for me, I'll fight for you!"

Poverty? Yep, 50 years ago again........legislation to enact a "War on Poverty"...........trillions of dollars spent, but we still have streets full (don't we?) of starving children, or old people, or whatever other grievance group is convenient to pander to.

Healthcare? Okay, that one has legislation that only goes back about 6 years (unless you have sufficient memory or study to recognize that many of the "problems" in healthcare started......wait for it........about 50 years ago when Medicare/Medicaid was started), yet............you guessed it. Even though it was promised to ensure the uninsured (gee, just like 50 years ago) we still hear that 30 million are uninsured..........the same number approximately as 6 years ago. But rates have gone down, right? Ummmm, well, no, actually higher. But services are better for sure. Only if you haven't sought routine medical care (emergency/critical care may still be as good as ever, but too soon to tell). Those that are cynical might say it appears "Obamacare" was designed to fail. Perhaps, which means that this particular complaint theme won't make it to 50, but having caused all these problems, the political class will offer "single payer" as the solution (could it be this was the plan all along?). Because............the political class has proven to be so good at problem solving. Yeah, there you go, these guys have such a good record of problem solving (see examples above).

Again, these facts won't fly..........there's always a scape goat. The other political party, not enough funding (like trillions is too small a number?), or a bevy of others. Grievance is a human flaw, it will never go away, and will always be there to be exploited. The real question is; are there going to be enough sensible people to offset the ones who are easily misled? Your guess is as good or better than mine.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
