Warning
2 weeks ago my brother and I went down to import car show and cruise.. We took his 2008 525hp SRT8 Charger. I figured my old hotrods would be even more out place thanhis. Though we ended up seeing quite a few old hot rods there. Anyway he just got 5,500 of work done to it,high performance cam and lifters and 3:91 posi rear. Thank god he did those imports are smoking fast.!!!
With makes like Nissan ,Honda,Subaru ,Ferrari,Mercedes ,Lamborghini,Audi,Porche and models like WRX STI,RX-7 or 8,EVO -8 or 9,350Z,Skyline,Supra,S2000,AMG,GTR-35,etc...
We saw many a Mustang,Nova,Chevelle and Corvette get their ass handed to them we even got our ass whooped by a new Skyline.
Point is it hurts but its true. If you take your beater hot rod down to import week you will get your teeth kicked in and your wallet emptied!!! Sorry but that's the way it is.. I'm with you guys believe me but I'm also a realist!!!!Last edited by slincoln 3; 10-11-2014 at 06:51 AM.

No disrespect, but "import week" is just about the last place I'd go to see whats at a car show. Everyone knows that there are some fast imports out there, I mean how many Fast & Furious trash films does it take to get that point across? Are they up to F&F 7 now, and I didn't see a need for them to make #2 but that's Hollywood. Polished tomato can exhaust tips and the sewing machine rpm's of the tuner kids just don't impress me - too old I guess. And as for street racing full out on city/suburb streets like they depict in the movies? I'm more in the mode of "I don't really speed, but I do like to get up to the speed limit really quick!"Last edited by rspears; 10-11-2014 at 06:53 AM.

I don't watch the Fast and Furious movies but my son loves them he's only 11. And this was my first import show ever. My oldest son 26 has a Mustang GT and second son 21 has a WRX STI. GUESS WHICH ONE IS FASTER?Last edited by slincoln 3; 10-11-2014 at 07:55 AM.

See, you mentioned "Skyline", and now "WRX" and not only do I not have any idea what those models are or who makes them, I don't care! If I want to talk tuners I'll go learn the lingo, what's fast and what's not in their arena. Like I said, probably just too old but I like Detroit iron, and old hot rods.Roger

I'm not stupid enough not to respect power no matter what form it comes in. My 69 Ford has 4:11 gear and mini tubs and my son still gets me out the hole in is all wheel drive stick WRX. I just switched to a stick shift myself we'll see if that helps. Wake up guys its getting bad!!!Last edited by slincoln 3; 10-11-2014 at 08:47 AM.

You do a lot of comparing apples to oranges... your earlier thread comparing a 390 FE to a 400 Modified and now this one comparing a Mustang to an import.. is really an open ended question. By that I mean we all know speed costs money, so the import is faster, in this case yes / maybe? Sure, how much cash was poured into it.?.?
If I had the cash I would've shown up with one of John Force's Mustangs and asked who wanted to race?!?!
There are a LOT of fast cars out there, and a lot of really good tuners (humans, not cars) , there are folks all over this great country doing amazing things with just 4 cylinders too!
Have you watched the VW Bugs of the 60's beat up on everyone yet? Youtube can be very entertaining!

Cash for clunkers should of been cash for foreign shit cars to get our steel back for our USA brands and the gov should of told those big ass dealer groups that have 5 or 6 different makes to get back to USA------------if you want to sell more than one make--it could be Lincoln, Mercury, Chrysler,Plymouth, Buick,Cadilac, Pontiac,GMC etc, etc,etc
I get so upset at all those toyoadas, bmw, hundi, kis at the traffic intersections and the zoom, zoom, serwve, lane changes, tail gating -----------------
American made, USA brands, standard rear window gun racks in the pickups,----------------

I guess I didn't know they were that fast. Though I had a couple turbo 4cyl in early 90's Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and Dodge Charger GLHS and they were quick. But until I helped my son get the WRX STI and him asking me for money all the time for racing parts I never knew they were that fast or that there was so much available for them that's all.Last edited by slincoln 3; 10-11-2014 at 08:04 AM.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
