It seems the last practice before qualifying is getting to be a real cat and mouse game with the new qualifying format! As if the Crew Chief's didn't have to work hard enough for their money, now they have to be a strategist about qualifying, too! Heard NASCAR is looking for ways to cut the engines a bit in the next couple years, seems no matter what they do the teams seem to find a way to keep the speed at or above 200 mph on the 1 1/2 mile and longer tracks! Crew Chief on a NASCAR team has got to be one of the toughest, most demanding jobs in all of motorsports!

Today it seems a lot of cars are doing 3 or 4 laps qualifying trim and then doing straight race trim testing. Except Junior, he's already run 150 laps in testing trim! Announcers are saying he's gonna wear out his motor testing and not have much left for the race! LOL..

Yates had been pushing for a 300 inch motor some years back, with a cam limit to hold down horsepower and get rid of the plates. Dunno if it would work but the smalled motor would've been "interesting" if you know what I mean.

And Marcos Ambrose is in the top 5 and the fastest Ford!
