Shine ----that's a tuff question as all the required runway length figures that we work with are bashed on accelerate / stop distances for having adequate length to stop in the event of an engine failure right at V1 speed-----and also obsecal clearance with an engine failure at over V1 that would clear 35 feet IIRC--------Probably anything over 5000 ft on an average temp day( a little headwind helps) would get you airborne-----------

With the hiarchies that still exist between military/civilian ------I don't think that we would successfully get it stopped because we can't intercept every 77 headed our way----I don't think the leadership exists in our government(probably no one else except the Isralies)

    https://www.google.com/#q=Malaysia+captains+simulator

Take a look at that simulator set up---------
You could probably get into the system and copy what he had been practicing which in this case of B777 you'd have all the navigation points---------------

seems like the unofficial official report is UFO took them------------------

I still say look toward the west---maybe Sir lanka?--------but a straight west from area of question along a ling about 5 degrees north of the equator would take them to Somolya--------------

I also saw something this morning about them raiding the captains home------------hope they don't screw up the evidence of what he was practicing on that simulator----------

They need to check the fuel load on the airplane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!they will probably find that it had an extra 3 or 4 hours-----no problem for captain to get more than needed for the flight---------In fact many flights carry a huge overload of fuel so they don't have to pay extra high costs in some other countries--------------(China jet fuel costs more than Malaysian fuel?)

And it looks like data is pointing to my theory of it being flown west---probably along a line of 5* north lat headed past SirLanks/India toward Somolya/Yemen----------

It is pretty crazy how that plane just vanished. That is a pretty thing to dissappear. I guess only time will tell at this point. Definitely a tragedy to all that may have family on that flight. I can't imagine that it dipped into the ocean without some sort of debris on the surface of the water from impact. It's probabaly under a moss covering hidden by some thugs...................

It's already been painted with Air New Zealand logos, have to keep our national airline up to date somehow. :-)
