    NASCAR in Phoenix this weekend

Watched practice and the new qualifying format (knock out qualifying like road racing).......

Penske Ford's on the front row!!!! And a new track record just for good measure!!!

So true Charlie! Just a comparison to last years Ford cars which almost couldn't buy the front row without help.

So it's good to see all the oem's have a chance is all I'm after! Imagine that.... I enjoy the competition!!! LOL..

Poles are very important, to Ford, the other manufacturer's, and all the drivers!!! Pays points, plus gets you in to 2 big CASH races next year, the Shootout and the All-Star races!!!! Qualifying setups are nothing like race setups, going fast for a couple laps is way different from winning after a few hundred. With all the cars so equal this year, qualifying really has little to do with the outcome of the race but is actually more of a separate competition within the event. The new qualifying procedure IMO places even more emphasis on the driver's ability and the crew's ability to adjust to the current conditions and the strategies of the other teams to land that coveted Pole Winner trophy!!!!!

The only really bad news coming out of NASCAR at Phoenix is that (unfortunately) Daryl Waltrip has recovered from gall bladder surgery and is back in the announce booth.........

Nice to see NAPA with that American badge, good old Darrell Lee sure stepped on his dick last year.

First win for Harvick with his new team, first win this year for Stewart-Haas!!! Penske cars came in 3 and 4, Logano made a try at the front late in the race but nobody had anything for Harvick today!!!!
