Farmhouse Ale's Gettin' Close
Checked on the Farmhouse Ale that cooked 2/11 and it's still fermenting a bit, giving me a bubble of CO2 in the air lock about every 40 seconds. This is a clone of Boulevard's product that's in their specialty brews called The Smokestack Ales. The target for this one is 8.25%ABV, so it'll have a bit of a "kick" A "true" Farmhouse Ale was more in the two percent range, so the farm hands could have a cold one with lunch, or during a steamy afternoon, but not be falling off the tractor and getting hurt!!

Had a couple of friends out last night, and while the wives visited we had a little "tasting party", sampling an ESB, a Robust Stout, a clone of Boulevard's Chocolate Ale, a "Wee Heavy" Scottish Ale (6.25%) and finishing with a Belgian Black which is a clone of New Belgium's 1554 Ale that's been in the bottle three weeks. The "samples" were ~4oz each, to see which one they wanted with dinner. Good times!!Last edited by rspears; 02-22-2014 at 10:24 AM.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
