Heck, it's going to be to have fun with so I doubt if I'll be getting a lot of the hi-dollar goodies unless the girls still have an interest in it when they get a bit older. Gotta do something, still a few years till the girls are old enough for Jr. Dragsters!
I'd keep them separate if I were doing it, a nice race track layout with at least one high banked turn and a nice long straight, maybe with a chicane for some excitement; and then a train layout with a few switches, a tunnel, and if you get into it some buildings and model cars to add to the imagination. Do you really want high speed car/train crashes?

Gotta say I've been out of touch!! I looked at the Carrera sets, and that Digital 124 is super cool! Two lane track, but up to four (six with options) cars racing independently with driver controlled lane changes? Add a digital control unit to program in braking, power/speed, tank capacity, pit stop & pace car functions..... Darn you, Dave!! Darn you, Double Darn you!!

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
