I usually tell my customers to go enjoy the show and talking to fellow gearheads. If you get a trophy, then it is just "gravy". I tell them that if they want proof of whether people like their project... listen to what they say... and watch for them to point, or get out their camera! That is the "proof" that you did good!

As far as the trophies themselves... I favor the ones chosen by the public... not by judges who are either counting rock chips, or "helping out their buddies".
This is my favorite part about my Corvette. I wish I had a dollar for every picture taken of that car so I could build a better faster one. haha But, this car also gets a lot of bad comments and I have my fun with said ass hats. I had an old guy ready to box at a show this year because he was so mad I ruined a Corvette. I just kept egging him on. I just ask questions like, How can I ruin a car destined for the crusher, or How can I ruin something that was crap when new, things like that. After the shit storm I asked where his car or truck was and he had none there. I replied with case closed. Hehe
