Thumbs up going for a scenic cruise vacation

my gal and i are going to trailer the 27 to durango colo. for a 5 day mini vacation.
stay in my buddies nice hotel in the san juan mountain range and do the scenic cruise through silverton ouray and telluride
    coming back through cortez.
i have been all over this continent and this is some of the most beautiful country i have seen anywhere
    mexico ,canada and alaska included.
a hot rod is whatever i decide it is.

if i was single i would simply drive it the 300 miles there.
but there is NO WAY my gal is up for that.
besides the king cab GMC 2500k is tailor made for stuff like this.
a hot rod is whatever i decide it is.

    What was being welded?

You know you're sure getting a lot of chrome on that ride Billy!

I used to live in that area and knock around there a lot back when Telluride was "ONLY" a mining town with Bridalveil Falls to look at. Great scenic area for sure and the only place I might put beside it would be Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons. - - - - have fun and know that I envy you big time.

We (a group of dirt bike riders) were going to the Telluride area in the early 70's and looked at houses on the main drag that were priced at $7500. We needed a place to store our dirt bikes for the winter. Thought $7500 was a rip off. Had two friends who bought several of those houses and they hit paydirt....in about 1982 they told me they would never have to work again....AND they had done the same thing in Aspen in the 60's....bought empty land there for nothing and hit it big.

Not aware of a big mud slide....First went to Telluride in 1972 and lived in Rico 79-81. Have gone
to many Telluride 4th of July celebrations since but dont remember a mud slide. There were LOTS
of avalanches in the winter. Billy's trip will be really neat, driving the loop is a great summer trip except
    for the tourists in Durango.

Billy, darn I was sure I would get to see your 27 tomorrow at the "Park in the Park" in Rio Rancho. It is from 11 to 4 and last year about 300, expect as good this year. I was going to look for you.
Enjoy your vacation, that corner of Colorado and the opposite corner at Rocky Mt. National Park/Estes Park are the two best things to see about the state. Go swiming in Ouray at the hot springs pool, take a photo of the 27 on top of Red Mountain pass, and look for the french bakery in Silverton for breakfast. Live it up! Catch you next time.

when i raised the cab so my doors would open due to the new headers.
i stuck spacers in between the 8 body mounts and the frame.
we welded the spacers in place then ran bolts through.

and yes there is a bit of bling going on.
    whenever something poops out .
i replace it with a chrome one.

    i know
    chrome dont getcha home.
but it looks stylish on the trailer!

    update
the old kingpin bushings were installed upside down.
no wonder they were toast after 3000 miles.
i am putting oversize kingpins in today.
and if i play my cards right*.
my bushings will be right side up.
*(i been sayin my prayers and even been kind to animals...honest!)
