Yes, I'm guilty of leaving a burner on also... One day I heard something shatter in the kitchen, went running in there and found a plate that I had placed on the stove top had overheated and I guess exploded! All because I didn't realize I had left a burner on..

Charlie, if Mom's ok, then all will be well. Sorry it happened and I hope she didn't lose to many old irreplaceable things like photos, etc.
