    NASCAR at Bristol

Short tracking! Kyle Busch set a new track record under 15 seconds for the 1/2 mile bullring!

A race at Bristol, as the late Benny Parsons described it, is like running Jet Fighters in a Gymnasium!!!!

Was a good race for the most part, lot's of passing for those with good setups... 8-)
Hamlin stuck it to Keselowski on the last re-start!! The K says "the car won't launch when the back tires are in the air!!" LOL..

And Casey gets a win! 4 races and 4 different winners. I'm likin' that part!

Yup, good race and good to see Kahne win one! Thought he had a win last week, but Kenseth got that one. Now on to California and see how the new car does on a 2 mile track known for hi speed!!!! Curious to see which rear spoiler we see there???

I have a strange feeling that Hamlin is off of a couple more Christmas card lists. Never been much of a fan of his anyhow, being a Toy driver. Now, and the way he is whining, and might stay off my 'favorites' list for a while longer. The nudge he gave Logano appeared to start out as a bump and pass that went wrong. The replays show him turning into Logano. That tire blow and spin by Smoke was about the fastest turnaround and back into the wall I've ever seen.

As the cars were going round the track, see how many seats were empty? NASCAR and NHRA does have a problem getting behinds in the seats .

There were probably at least a third of the seats empty. Unfortunately it's as much the economy as any other reason. Take a trip to the grocery store - our food bill went from $80-$100 a week to almost double. Then when you get done there, stop for some $4/gallon gas that was $2 about 18 months ago. When you are done with those two stops, not many dollars left for fun, especially if your paycheck is smaller with the FICA going back to 6.2%, healthcare going out of sight

Bruton Smith can only blame himself for attendance at Bristol, his attempts to go back to the Bristol Wreck Fest seem to have backfired on him!

BTW, for 2013, attendance at Daytona, Pheonix, and Vegas were all higher then 2012. California is always lousy on attendance, curious to see what the crowd is next week.

$103 to $470 a pop for tickets is a good reason to stay home and watch.

I'll be at California Speedway on Sunday. Got special tickets. Seats for Sunday (turn one, 15 rows up), hospitality tent and pit passes.

I never have been to the new track, I did make it to the old Ontario track, and Riverside! Hope you bring us a bunch of pics from your pit wanderings!!!!!!

    Will do Dave,

This is my second time there. The only issue is that the track is so big that the cars look like dots when they are on the back stretch. Sat in turn four then.

A couple of errors, but he missed the extremely significant point of the economy and discretionary income for expensive weekends plus the aging fan base.
