Got an e-mail from them, and then today a letter in the mail to previous registrants saying that they were unable to come to agreement with the KS Speedway management regarding 2013 and future dates. No details given, but I did send them a note offering to assemble a small group of GG members to scout out potential sites in the metro area for 2014 and beyond if it would help.

Yes, Des Moines over the July 4th weekend is a great show 3+ hours north on I35, and I heard yesterday that the Loveland show is a good venue, too, but it's more like 12 hours west on I70. The big one is in Columbus, OH this year, and it follows Des Moines by a week, so a trooper would hit Des Moines, then leave there Monday for a leisurely drive across to Columbus...
