Doug was the only one that could wring more Horsepressure out of the Ford's then Jack Roush, so Roush was smart enough to partner up with them!!!! No wonder both have been so successful over the years, if one guy is your biggest competition then quit fighting him and make him your partner!!!!!! Good, sound business practice, I'd say!

Back many moons ago, we had a guy running Ford powered sprinters, everybody laughed at him till he showed up with Yates power and Kinsler injection, even had a guy from Yate's shop with him for a few weeks to set up and tune the engine.... Did some serious butt kickin' for a year or so then got hurt bad in a nasty wreck and forced into retirement from Sprinters. He started powering some of the Ford drag cars after that and always had some big horse engines out there. I had one of his 408's with Yates heads in one of my little Maverick's for a couple seasons (don't ask what it cost), huge power for what it was!!!! Now, like most of us geezers, he's sold out and closed his shop, semi-retired, and just building toys for himself and his grandson...... His grandson has a cute little silver '67 Horse Coupe on the street now, guess it's one of the cars that should be at the top of your "Cars NOT to mess with" list!!!!
