Farmer's don't get a subsidy check for drought years, multi-peril insurance is their only way to recover any of their loss... Their will be a shortage of corn, shortage of beef, shortage of pork because of the drought and bad crop yields (if any crop at all). The shortage of corn and beans will cause the price increases, not a government program or lack of it...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Any farmer who has crop insurance and did not plant before April 13th or 15th, will be fine. It's the lack of product that will hurt everyone like you said.
