Local car show

Car show in town here. there were 49 cars here I think thats a good turn out for a town of 2k. here are a few pictures I'm not to sure of the front end on the rat rod but it dodes work

I won't even comment on that front suspension! Seeing that leads me to wonder how long it'll be before we end up with a program like the Aussies and New Zealanders... I'll bet he says it rides great too!

But why.....why.... why put so much effort into building a car if you can't drive the wheels off it. Charlie is all your roads ultra smooth,no pot holes, etc around your fine town and country side as that car has very little ground clearance?? Oh thanks for posting the photo's too and now I will do the Goggle Earth thing and look up Constantine.

2 more ...roads are in very good shape here. I like the 2 miles between stop signs. Long and flat. There are even places where someone spilt paint 1320 feet apart. Can you believe that...

34-40..Funny you should say that,cos on his last trip down here,end of last year,,I have been told,that Pete Chapouris was very interested in our certification program,,and liked the quality of the rods on our roads..Sounds like he was going to introduce it to the SEMA people.. Hey,dont shoot me,,I'm only the piano player.. And in all honesty,I think we have a better deal than the Aussies,now..At least,we can still import cars that have been built/modified in the US,and put them on our roads..

I am NOT a fan of goverment in my business! But, when I see some of these (hate to say it /single them out) rat rods and the "creative" assembly techniques... I'll admit it scares me to think they are on the same road as my family! I know we as humans have to save ourselves from ourselves... the proverbial Catch-22????

But some folks just seem to ignore basic engineering and seemingly desire to tempt fate with someone else's life.. And then they want to tell me (us) that's how they did it "back in the day"!!! Sigh.... 8-(

I believe they were called quarter eliptics? was a somewhat common type of suspension in some days with gassers--mostly where 55-57 cars were built to compete in the gas / altered classes--usually was a econoline front axle---this allowed the axle to be mounted forward with most of the mass/weight further back ---also worked good for rear end mounting and ladder bars----then along came coil overs------

Yup..We know a guy here with a 26 r/p,with a radically chopped bodyand big kick up in the frame,,running a BBC,and he has used quarter elliptics on the front..I dont think its 100% street legal yet..but its getting there..He has used in in the dirt track racing up north of here..
