Electric cars have been around a good long time. I have a circa 1800 auto repair manual which shows maintenance on an electric car. Shows how the electric motors switch from series to parallel circuit, and how to change the plates in the glass battery case.

A couple of points no one who supports electric want to address: one, there is no recycling program in effect for the batteries, and modern batteries are highly toxic. It is going to create huge pollution.

Two, electric cars don't eliminate pollution, they shift it to the power plant, creating point pollution compared to non point pollution.

Seems to me we should address the long term problems before establishing alternative power.

Another tidbit on solar cells : current technology utilizes SILVER in their creation. Silver is poised for a huge break out to new highs.

Silver is also being used in the medical profession now, as it works as a sterilizing agent on IV ports. I agree investing in silver is not a bad idea!

Sounds like a nice low head hydro system, Charlie. Dam the river every three or four miles, and get whatever power can be generated by the normal flow of the river. Not much capacity, but good, steady output that adds to the base load capacity and is quite reliable.

I believe there are 14 or 15 dams on this river they control the water level and electric, AND at each dam there is two boat launches and picnic areas one above and one below. Fishing is great

Yep, done right, low head hydro is a win-win approach for everyone! It just does not have the capacity to be the primary source of power for very many people, and with today's equipment costs it's pretty hard to justify new installations. Most low head hydro was more than 100 years ago, or thereabouts.

During a recent Romney campaign stop, a heckler from the audience hollered, "Hey Mitt Witt, where are you hiding your tax returns?

Governor Romney politely responded, "I've found a very secure place that I'm certain they won't be found."

The insistent heckler, then shouted, "And just where is that, dummy"?

Governor Romney smiled and said, "They are underneath Obama's college records, his passport application, his immigration status as a student, his funding sources to pay for college, his college records, and his Selective Service registration.

    "What's your next question?

You're kidding, right??? I'll never understand why people makes up bs like this and actually think they're doing the Romney campaign some good!!!! No real difference from this to the garbage already disproved saying President Obama is not a US citizen and the rest of it. Most people, when confronted with this kind of bs are naturally inclined to wonder where it originates and as such will view everything they hear with skepticism.

IMO there's been more then enough negativity put out by both campaigns!!!! I guess some people are still stuck on the only way to make "their guy" look good is to make the "other guy" look bad.... Again, I have to wonder if there is anything POSITIVE coming out of the Romney campaign, or if all we could expect from him is four years of blaming someone else???? Wise up people, If you want to do something good for your chosen candidate, then tell us something he plans to do that will benefit the entire country!!!! Many of us are tired of the lies and bs!!!!!

like dominos TIMBER!!!! I think the tide is rising .

Four years after The Sentinel, central Florida’s largest newspaper, endorsed Barack Obama’s candidacy for president, the newspaper’s editorial page said Mr. Romney is the better choice this time.
“We have little confidence that Obama would be more successful managing the economy and the budget in the next four years,” the editorial in Friday’s edition said. “For that reason, though we endorsed him in 2008, we are recommending Romney in this race.”

    Oh my more good news:

The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press.

IMO the worst possible thing that anyone can do at this point is to communicate that "...it's in the bag", "...the tide has turned", or any other message that conveys that any individual vote may not be needed. I still recall standing in line at the polls after work in 1984, late in the evening because of the record turnout that year and a guy walking in declaring "They just declared Regan the winner!!" This was several hours before the polls closed in the West, and we had people turning away, walking out of the polling place saying, "What's the point of voting?" The stupidity of the news declaring the winner, even though it was true and could not be refuted, biased untold elections for senators, representatives, and local elections because people elected not to vote in a race that was "...already decided."

This is not a time to be making jokes, poking fun, or otherwise sending the message that this election is decided either way. The presidential election is likely going to be very close, and IMO it is critically important for people to VOTE! Besides, there is a wide range of local, state and federal offices to be decided, and we owe those candidates our votes. Just my $0.02, and not preaching or singling anyone out with this. Please VOTE.
