The local paper is running a series on poverty folks and it seems that most have at least one kid and generally more. Most of them don't have a job and that's BS as our place uses a lot of temp help which leads to full time if they really want to work.

Weather?????????? if you are talking about Katrina---the destruction resulted in lots of jobs, in fact workers came from all over the country because THEY wouldn't work----------
But besides that--lumber industry is bigger in Miss than most of the western states
    car factories--------thousands of jobs----------
government workers------thousands---to process all those applications for welfare

have and have nots????? people I know are looking to leave because to a person they say that the people there have no morals------------common answer about a killing--somebody had to die

This statement is going to get people to post, but if you think neither choice are good ones, then don't vote.
I don't mean it to seem that I am in disagreement with everything you say, but the things you bring up just get me passionate enough to respond. It sounds to me like you want to vote along with the majority of voters who are supporting the candidate, no matter who you vote for or his/her party affiliation. While I support the idea of voting across party lines, I will not vote for anyone just because they show the majority of support. Look at how many times the majority of voters have installed a dud. For instance, I voted for Ross Perot in 1992 and 1996, because I thought he would do a better job in Washington. When I stepped into the voting booth, I knew that he didn't have a prayer, but that didn't stop me from voting for the man that I thought could do the job better than the other two.

Bull Hockey. My ex and I started two companies from scratch in 1979/1980, with no more than a couple hundred bucks in the bank and operated them at a profit of ~$300,000 a year for the next 20+ years, employing an average of 15 people. The only thing that anyone has to do in this country is to get up off his dead ass and make a concerted attempt. Don't misunderstand, we made perhaps a half dozen earlier attempts that failed, but our entreprenurial spirit was unaffected and we persisted until we met with success. I seem to remember that Edison went through over 7,000 filament experiments before he found one that would work in his new light bulb. Very rare is the case where someone gets it right the first time or first few times, but it is possible to create a business from scratch with little or no money in this country and have it make a living for the creator.

ROSS FOR BOSS ! yep voted for him too. why ? he was a gutsy little terd that knew how to get it done. made carter look like a fool . but washington was scared of him.
now then. after the depression the government put people to work . now they just pass out checks. drug test them and let them work for the county . there's plenty of unskilled work to do. beats hiring illegal to do it .
supply and demand has always ruled the economy. until the unemployment gets down to 5% thing s do not change. at 5% everyone is working because 5% of the country wouldn't work if they were given a job.

want to talk about a wasted war how about the war on drugs . billions of dollars spent with 0 results . wanna know why they wont decriminalize pot ??? it's part the hidden economy . dumbest thing we have going. legalize it , tax hell out of it and the border problem is 70% taken care of. then they can concentrate on meth and coke which are destroying our country.

The thing is Richard, the reality is not everyone could do what my partner and I did. It's like telling people, yes there is a Santa Claus. And making people believe everyone can be a self made millionaire is a fairy tail.

Shine-you go on and on about entitlements and welfare. Facts support a huge part of what has gotten this country so far in debt is two wars.It makes me sick to see how bad we are at taking care of our own.Ad's about people here not doing well and right afterwards a ad for a fund for a country off shore. We need to get over ourselfs thinking this is a endless pit for all the troubles in the world.Take care of our people first and foremost.

Jerry-the programs for the ninth ward did not work and as a result opened up jobs for people all over the country, but not really for the residents. The area is still yrs after a mess. Jerry here is a fact,WE walked out on our own people. Yet spent Trillions of dollars outside of our counties boarders. That theory you can teach a man to fish etc, etc, fact is we never brother to teach that man anything except to sell drugs on the street because of our failures to teach kids from those neighborhoods the values and skills to advance themselves.

Oh shine.I forgot to ask you what you expect the office of president to do??. What is your def of the job??. I really can't figure out how to answer you if I don't know.

I thought of one other escaped fact.We go on and on about those people on drugs etc, etc. Guys, the street drug industry is funded by rich white people taking a advantage of the underprivileged. The have and have not's??. It most certainly is.

Ya' know guys, I'm reminded of an old saying I picked up down in the Ozarks of my youth,
Arguing with some people is like wrestling with a pig in mud. After a while you realize that while you are getting dirty, the pig is actually enjoying it just for the joy of being in the mud. Sometimes all you can do is ignore the pig, step back, hose yourself off and let her wallow around, and after a bit she'll lay back down in the mud and sleep.

The fact of the matter is, yes, Bush was not the best president. one of the wars was not necessary, however neither was Korea ( Truman, Democrat ), Vietnam war ( Kennedy, Democrat ) ( Johnson, Democrat ) and finally 1 republican who ended the war.

Quite simply, The President should do his job. Pass a budget , Stabilize/ Keep Economy Stable. Those 2 things are key to a President's success among other things, yet Obama has yet to pass a budget, and the economy is still not stable. Obama himself said he had an " Incomplete ".

Roger, always enjoyed that little saying. Here's another one that seems appropriate right now:

"Never underestimate the difficulty of changing false beliefs by facts."

Matt, you give me hope for the younger people of today.................I hope there are enough of you.
