Mr. Obama’s comments last week concerning business once again underscored that he is out of touch with what constitutes a small business in America. I have often commented that he has no business experience and has never balanced a budget, made a payroll or agonized over laying off a long-term employee due to lack of work or shifting economic conditions. (I once made a comment that he’s never even run a shoeshine stand and was promptly called a “racist” – really?) He has no concept of what I go through each and every day to keep a small business viable and strive to provide a decent living for a dozen folks. He has never worked a sixty or seventy hour week, maxed his business credit line and cashed in his savings to make sure employees are paid and the lease is current. He is the most arrogant and self-serving individual that has (in my life time) occupied the Whitehouse and I for one find his use of “I” verses “we” to be repulsive and condescending and he has the gall to state the following (Huff Post, July 12):

"The mistake of my first term —a couple of years — was thinking that this job was just about getting the policy right. And that's important, but the nature of this office is also to tell a story to the American people that gives them a sense of unity and purpose and optimism, especially during tough times. It's funny, when I ran, people said, 'Well, he can give a great speech, but can he actually manage the job?' And then in my first two years, I think the notion was, "Well, you know, he's been juggling and managing a lot of stuff, but where's the story that tells us where he's going?' And I think that was a legitimate criticism."

To which Mr. Romney responds, “President Obama believes that millions of Americans have lost their homes, their jobs and their livelihood because he failed to tell a good story. Being president is not about telling stories. Being president is about leading, and President Obama has failed to lead. No wonder Americans are losing faith in his presidency.”

Unfortunately, there are (as stated above so well by Bob Parmenter) a lot of ignorant people who may once again outnumber the thoughtful in November – I certainly hope not. This man is an embarrassment to our great nation. The only people he “leads” are those who want to suck at the government’s teats - those who have adopted an entitlement mentality that truly believe they should be able to have what I have worked for and I should be willing to share of my wealth with those who (for whatever reason) do not have “enough”. The 47% of our population who pay no taxes at all seem to have nice clothes, nice cars, cell phones, Internet connectivity, cable TV, and eat out at fast-food joints at least three times a week (read a lot of fat Americans!).

I’m rich (not because I’m an “evil” small business owner that makes more than $250K a year) but because I have a wife of nearly forty years whom I love and adore, four great children and five grand kids! My home’s paid for and for the most part all the body parts still work fairly well. I have lots of fun tools and have had some great cars, trucks and motorcycles over the years (not done yet!) I can go home at night and sit on my patio and thank God I live in a free (at least for now!) country and know that He is still in control – Lord grant me wisdom and for sure – patience. It’s hard to see my America slide into oblivion.

    Thanks for lettin’ me vent!

    Regards All,
    Glenn

Good stuff, Glenn. I think a lot of us would say AMEN TO THAT!
