It has been asked more than once (but not necessarily in these words) how just ONE MAN can possibly be held responsible for the big mountain of disastrous messes in which our country finds itself.
(Well, I'll admit that "disastrous messes" isn't the precise term I used when I wrote that last paragraph. My lovely wife edited this and she substituted "disastrous messes" for the word I originally used.)
This is from The Honorable Kay Granger, representing the Tenth Congressional District of Texas. She isn't my congressperson but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if she were.
It covers just a few of the things "just one person" can do.

I lied.
Mrs. Granger does not represent the Tenth Congressional District. She represents the Twelfth.

Hope you don't mind, Jim, but I thought I'd post here letter for those who don't want to take the time to click a link and read it.
Here's the letter;
Dear Friend,
With all that is going in Washington these days some things don’t make the news the way they should. Fourteen days ago President Obama issued an Executive Order that you should know about. This order gives an unprecedented level of authority to the President and the federal government to take over all the fundamental parts of our economy - in the name of national security - in times of national emergency.
This means all of our water resources, construction services and materials (steel, concrete, etc.), our civil transportation system, food and health resources, our energy supplies including oil and natural gas – even farm equipment – can be taken over by the President and his cabinet secretaries. The Government can also draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to fulfill "labor requirements" for the purposes of "national defense." There is not even any Congressional oversight, only briefings are required.
By issuing this as an Executive Order the President puts the federal government above the law, which, in a democracy, is never supposed to happen.
As President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, he has the Constitutional authority to issue executive orders. And while similar orders have been made before by presidents from Eisenhower and Reagan to Clinton and George Bush – it has never been done to this extent.
It is still unclear why this order was signed now, and what the consequences are for our nation – especially during times of peace. This type of Martial Law imposes a government takeover on U.S. citizens that is typically reserved for national emergencies, not in a time of relative peace.
I want you to know I am following this very closely. If you would like to read the order for yourself please click here.
Sincerely,
Kay Granger
Member of Congress

Heck no, Dave, I don't mind at all. It didn't occur to me that people might not bother to open the link. Thanks for posting it.
Was it by "executive order" that the president gave thousands of kids of illegal aliens an open door to citizenship one night recently? No vote? No discussion? No nothing? And just because it's "the right thing to do"?
I'm still mad because of the way "Obamacare" was shoved up our noses by only a simple majority and with not a single member of congress have read the bill.
I'm tempted to go out in the shop and drink beer until I fall out of the chair. I won't do that though because of the wear and tear on my health.
Also, I'd have to find myself a new wife and at my age that could be too tough to contemplate.

That is really some scary stuff in her letter, Jim!!!!! Dang media follows all the campaign hype and doesn't even mention this???? The President, either this one or the next one, could take control of virtually everything with this order????? No idea what it takes to rescind an Executive Order, but I sure do hope somebody is working on it!!!!! I wouldn't want to see anyone in the White House have that much authority!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

That's rich! After your comments above about "cuts" for various vote buying programs above in the Ryan crafted budget. A modicum of honest research would inform that it constrains the projected growth rates, yet still increases funding over time. Also that budget must be voted upon by elected representatives of the people after the oportunity for debate and amendment, unlike an EO. But then, since your guys have quashed the budget process for the past 4 years what does the constitutional requirement of submitting an annual budget really mean to the left? Move along.......nothing to see here..........these aren't the hypocracies you're looking for.........Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

No, I tend to be skeptical of just about all of the "news" programs, as they all seem to be extremists, one side or the other, as opposed to simply reporting truth. Of course, I tend towards a very logical analysis, where there is truth and then there is everything else. So far I have found FactCheck to be fairly neutral in their analysis and reporting of the trash flying around these days, but I don't trust any one place 100%. From "The Thinker Blog",
The bottom line is that fact-checking sites such as FactCheck.org, for all their attempts to be neutral and unbiased, are staffed by real live human beings who suffer from the same cognitive biases, logical fallacies, and political worldviews as all other humans do. It seems to me they are correct and fair the majority of the time, but occasionally they may stray from neutrality just a bit.
Without good critical thinking skills, the public’s opinions on important issues are formed for them by others — by the media, by popularity and peer pressure, and by authority figures such as professors, politicians, and “the experts”. Critical thinking can enable everyday people to arm themselves against the persuasive powers of pundits, demagogues, and other propaganda artists.

Snopes is not a reliable source of facts. They are a part of the liberal left, hiding in the wings pretending to be neutral, but financed by George Soros who is a big Obama supporter. Snopes has been caught in several blatant lies, one recently regarding Supreme Court rulings. I'll never trust anything Snopes says again, regardless the subject.
The fact that every president has used the EO process is moot. The question is "What did they use the EO for?" Obama has used EO's to undermine the very foundation of our government, for personal gain.Roger

I believe this is the objective of big money and as a consequence it is the objective of those who dance as puppets of big money, just as Barry dances to the tunes of George Soros.
I'm not eloquent like some writers on this board and I'm probably not nearly as intelligent or educated, but I believe that in order to control the masses, the socio-economics of each country and the people in those countries must be leveled so that all commerce can be handled with the same currency. It has happened in Europe with the Euro and I am of the belief that there are plans to institute the Amero in the Western Hemisphere. Big money sees that there must be a continuation of influx of indigents into the United States in order to "water down" this society and begin the degradation that is necessary to accomplish the melding of countries and individuals from the tip of Argentina to the Yukon of Canada. These indigents will be much easier to control than those who have the advantage of a good education. And by the way, these are not "Mexicans" who are infiltrating this country and Canada, they're Central American and South American Indians. Very low income, uneducated Indians who know nothing about how economies work and care little, as long as they can house and feed their families. Getting food stamps and free housing from the U.S. Government is a heck of a lot better deal than what they were used to in Honduras, so yeah, they're going to vote for the guy who will continue to hand out the freebies. I would too in their shoes. So would you.
So the fact is, our federal government does not want to stop the inflow of people from the South. NTFDAY and I have talked about this. He reckons that a two-man team of Marines with a 50 caliber machine gun, spaced evenly along the border with Mexico would do the deed. I was just doin' some figurin'. If the border is 3169 kilometers and you could place a team every 500 meters, so that they would have a 250 meter fan to the left and a 250 meter fan to the right, you'd need a total of 6,340 nests. Rotating a 2-man team each 8 hours would require 38,000 Marines. It would bring this influx of Indians to a screeching halt and also would bring the influx of drugs to a screeching halt. To pay for this, we could disband the U.S. Border Patrol. They're making little or no progress anyway and the desk jockeys are only wasting taxpayer dollars. These guys make a hell of a lot more loot than the average United States Marine and although that's a shame, it does begin to look good on the bottom line when the majority of persons protecting the border are making less than the current crop of Border Patrol dickwads. All of us know that there is money changing hands at the border control stations. That would come to a screeching stop too. Every driver of every truck coming into this country would be responsible for unloading his truck for inspection or turn it around and go back into Mexico. Enough is too much!!!!
That's how I see it. If you see it differently, then trade your thoughts with me and help me out.Last edited by techinspector1; 08-23-2012 at 04:03 PM.
