    locking your car

I just heard this thought I'd pass it on..thieves sit in parking lots with a device that can and will duplicate your cars locking signal..if you lock your car with the door lock button they can't get the code....BUT if you use the key fob buttom they get the code and when your gone they get in and steal anything not nailed down..
    Tecnology isn't it great

They used to do the same thing with your garage door openers! So if you got a real old style opener, it may benefit you to update as the new ones have a mechanism that changes the code to a new one on each use.

Charlie, I know that Y'all have heard this "when I was younger story" many time but we never took our keys out of the ignition back in the 50's and early 60's. However, we lived in a small town about 50 miles from the big City and everybody knew everybody which, I'm sure, made a big difference.

IMHO, I personally think that the location of where you leave your car unattended is more important than all of the anti-theft devices that will ever be made. Technology goes both ways to assist the Honest and the Dishonest and, if the criminal wants in or even possession of your stuff then they will get them, if not "personally" deterred by someone.

Think about it for a second. Your key fob transmitter is a really low powered signal. You can try to open your car from far away and figure out the transmitter range. .......the next time you are at the adult novelty store, try unlocking your door from across their parking lot. Keep trying as you walk closer....when it finally unlocks, that is the range of your transmitter. The thieves would have to be within that range to intercept the signal.....a pulse code. Guided bombs work in a similar fashion...their code is via laser. There are so many code combinations, the bomb hits the ground before the enemy can run the entire range of code and take over control.

If the thieves get your lock code, they have to follow you or have their sister who works in DMV run your license number. Gee, why not simply break into the car or tug it onto a rollback.....seems simpler. I guyess they could break into the car like Charlie said while a guy is in the dirty book/movie store and steal his inflatable devices.

Charlie along the same lines I've heard, but never tried, that if you lock your keys in the car, some one from home can cherp the second transmitter into their cell phone while you are holding your cell phone near the car, to unlock it. Not sure if this is true or not?
