Its true..Uncle Bobs pix are improving....I dont recall my nurse having a uniform like that,,her hair color was similar,but other bits an pieces,well,i wasnt fortunate enough to notice...but,yup,she would make a hospital stay bearable.(.or is that bareable??):LOL:Quote:

from another person who hates going to doctors for meds I've been on for years(to another), I've recently found out about certain meds that are becoming no nos. It grates on me to see them, because most Doctors are less aware of what you are taking, than you, and have less knowledge of side effects. That being said heart meds in particular, especially blood thinner meds, need regular monitoring to prevent bleeding out, or the opposite strokes and clotting.
On the other hand, my dog's vets are even worse, wanting a million follow up visits for a problem resolved, at 75-100 bucks a pop it adds up fast. Guess we complain either for too much care or lack there of! Human nature.
Oh yeah, Steve, Vets are even worse than Drs. :eek: Their tests and visit costs are right up there with the best specialists and my cats don't qualify for Medicare. :(

There is one experience that I wanted to share from the hospital and it isn't to bring anyone down.I had to get up and walk around so they could check my oxygen level in my blood.Just before that was a page for a "code red".There was a nurse at a door of a room dressed in a plastic uniform.In the corner of my eye I saw a patient from about his knees down.His feet/toes where stretched out shaking unlike anything I have ever see before.This picture since keeps playing over and over in my head.When I got back to my room I thought that is what dieing is like where you body wants to quit,but for whatever creates life in us wants to fight to stay alive.I have never seen anyone die before.It's horrible,just horrible.I want to try to keep that picture fresh in my mind to motivate me to take better care of myself.Right now this new blood flow is akin to just getting a new car.Being it is new I don't want to so to speak put the first dent in it.
Oh-later I asked my nurse if that guy had died and he told me he made it.

Glad that man made it, hope he continues to improve. :) Hospitals are very sad places and you only have to look around to see someone who would trade places with you if they could. We think we have it so bad until we see something like you just saw. You've gotta enjoy every day as if it were your last. I watched my own Dad die of a heart attack when I was not even 12.......it is something you never forget.

Gary, you and I share a couple of other things besides cars. Stents & Diabetes, while I've only had one H.A., while I was in the hospital they diagnosed me with diabetes. I wasn't given a choice then, I was started on insulin injections 4 times daily.
But, just today during one of my tri annual dr. visits I was given the choice to stop injections and use more pills or stay as it was. I decided to stay on the injections as it really does make my life easier in a lot of other ways. Like eating 4 or more times a day if I got off the insulin, I used to only eat once @ dinner time. When I got out of the hospital, I had to eat 3 square and believe it or not, I just still don't want to eat breakfast if it's not sunday morning.!.! To get off the injections I would have to take more pills and watch my blood glucose evey couple of hours (more injections to get sample) and either take a pill or eat something.. I said no thanks! Give me a shot of insulin, and I'm good to go!
I guess it's one of those silver lining deals...:HMMM::HMMM: sometimes I feel like a pharmicist..:CRY::eek::mad:
The way it was explained to me is a lock and key.You can use the pills if you produce enough insulin because what the pills do is open up the lock.But if you don't produce the insulin you need to shots.
Man the test strips are expensive.
I have had several people who are on the insulin pump tell me it changed their lives, got rid of the highs and lows. Maybe something to consider?

Yes and there is one more, like me - insulin resistant. My body does make enough insulin but it doesn't want it or know what to do with it! So I take pills to stop insulin production and take synthetic insulin to control my blood glucose. When people ask me if I'm type 1 or type 2? I say YES! :eek: actually I tell'em I'm 1.5! :LOL::3dSMILE:Quote:

I do know a couple people on insulin pumps and really enjoy the freedom. But there are hurdles as well. A big one is getting the insurance company to go along with a doctor to provide the thing!
