A guy that I knew years back bought a car (MGB I think) that had quit running and the people could not figure out why. Supposedly they had a shop work on it for a couple of days and they could not figure it out either. Anyway, he bought it and it was 2 1/2 quarts low on oil. As he was trying to figure out what was wrong he went ahead and popped in a couple quarts of oil just because it was low and it fired right up. That was the first time I had ever heard of a fuel pump cutoff switch tied into the oil pressure.
