No matter what page of my build thread i click on it starts with my no1 posting ???
Yeah, it's a "New Feature" that was turned on over the weekend. We debated it and it seems most didn't care for it but one or two did.
I personally hope it goes back to the "old way". But we'll deal with it. Also check out the Garage tab above.
If they want my opinion its a shite feature, why do they have to change things when they ain't broke ???
Well.. I guess I could repeat my self and say it's on their dime so it's basically their choice. Not all change is bad either! Imagine where we'd be if Ol' Henry didn't want to try a light v-8!?!?! As of now I find it annoying, but I also learned you can hit the little blue button on the left and you'll jump to the last new post in a thread! So I skip over the "new feature" and it's become a non-issue!
I thought it was just my computer screwing up. I just don't get why we have to keep changing things. Quit while we still have some of the original members left. :(
Don
the powers that be get bored . they like to change the maze .. it keeps the rats in shape
she s braking up ... she s braking up ......can it be rebuilt ?? stuff is hanging up lol
or----maybe people will sometimes read the original post and reply to it and not get off on a tangent.....:eek::eek: What a thought!!! A thread NOT being hijacked!!!:LOL::LOL:
That never happens here :LOL::LOL::LOL:
I've been using Mike's "Blue Dot" approach, and thought that it solved the problem but I just realized that it does not. The blue button indeed takes you to the first new post in a given thread, but if you then scroll up the next post above that newest one is post #1 in the thread. For example, I clicked the blue dot on Steve's '41 Willys Build post, went straight to post #691, but I could not get to post #690 in any way - scroll up to post #1, buy that's all that's there. In order to see the sequence one must go back up top, select page 46, and that page shows the previous posts. BUT it also shows Post #1 again, which by the way has twenty five (25) pictures associated, and requires scrolling through twenty five (25) screens to get to the sequential posts. I had not realized the impact of this change, but I now agree 100% that the "new improved feature" SUCKS!
I thought I was losing it.
This is NUTS! **)  :whacked: :whacked:
Hey try this out. Under Settings / General Setting, change the view to Threaded - newest first. I just tried it and it seems to bypass the Original Post as it is now on the bottom.... I'm testing it now.
:LOL::LOL::LOL: and I thought all the complaining had stopped already...OH Mr bill:HMMM:
Bill mentioned when all of this started that he had always (from the very start of CHR) had his General Settings on "Newest First" and that he saw no problem. Might be the answer, but it just seems backwards when one looks at a thread to have it in reverse chronological order....
He`s awaiting all contributing posts to tally up a final result.

I noticed the change, and though things were goofy also, but figured it out. I agree it does keep the topic on track. I like it many times that gets lost, smothered in bs is another way to say it.
I completely agree Don, many times i come here it just times out on me :(
To be honest its pretty frustrating and then the powers that be change stuff.
I really have made some great online friends here and obviously i come here to keep in contact with Don also, but i find i'm spending less and less time here these days. shame
Times out, maybe your computer needs an upgrade, the more robust the forum gets the harder your computer works and that requires memory and CPU speed. Not saying your outdated it could be something to think about, pretty sure you're not using a dial up modem.
As to change, better get use to that ... change never ends ..
Nope i'm running a quad core, lots of memory etc etc, What i don't understand is that the HAMB & other forums i go on don't suffer the same problems and they are using the V8 bulletin software ???
I'm all for change but it seems to me that this forum doesn't seem to grow like others do, To entice people to join you need to make it user friendly, in my opinion this is not.
"MrBill" :D is taking care of family member in ill health (limited access to the forum this week), will forward this to Brent.
Hardware issues (Brent has the server off site) seem to be an ongoing issue that he is working to resolve as he can.
Hopefully things will be resolved to everyones satisfaction within the next 7-10 days.......

It's turned off now. I meant to turn it off but didn't get back to it....I have a funeral for my dad to prepare for. Oh, I'm heading to that in an hour....sorry for the changes. My only hope ever for the site is to make it better for people in the long run. I'm not perfect and sorry for the changes.
Sorry to hear that, Brent. I'm sure you have the sympathy of all of us.
